Report IBOP and Inspection day Spring 2026

Saturday, April 11, 2026, Sunrise Stables in Assen hosted the spring edition of the IBOP and inspection day. Although the number of entered horses was modest this time, it was more than compensated for by the quality of the participating horses.

Simon Hoeksma and Geertje van de Veen were responsible for the assessments and look back on a successful and pleasant day.

The five-year-old type XX mare Lien (Dries BP118 x ….), owned by A. Bisschop, opened the day and was awarded a 2nd premium. This beautifully spotted mare can still gain more strength, but during the IBOP she showed a pleasant and correct test in which she was ridden with good willingness, earning 61.5 points.

The three-year-old type BP mare Nova van de Grenszicht (Olivier x Tsjalle 454), owned by A.B. Eckmann, was declared provisionally Elite. Nova is a youthful, refined mare with an eager, regular walk and a trot with plenty of impulsion and balance, combined with very correct leg conformation, for which she received no less than an 8.5. It is expected that this mare will continue to develop positively into an Elite mare.

Lobke (5 years old, type BP, Fons XX35 x Reinder 452), owned by J. Lukassen, was presented for grade promotion. This solid mare showed herself well but could be more convincing. Her walk improved by half a point, but she is still one point short of the Elite predicate, bringing her total to 43 points.

For the IBOP, Jinthe van de Dingspel (7 years old, type XX, Bontfire XX06 x ….), owned by M. Huijzer-Wietsma, also entered the arena. The mare scored 60 points and successfully passed her IBOP test. Jinthe could show more uphill movement to achieve a higher score.

The five-year-old type FB mare Serena from e Vita Stud (Tymen 503 x Wimer 461), owned by A.B. Eckmann, achieved the highest score of the day. This Friesian mare, presented in perfect condition, responded well to the aids and was pleasant to ride. She has three correct basic gaits and received 65 points. As Serena had already obtained the points for provisional Elite status, she was now declared definitively Elite after passing her IBOP.

The horse Lexi van Twenthe (Giovanni Landzicht x Allard BP21) was presented at an external location. This five-year-old, elegant and expressive type XX mare, owned by T. Plieger, moves very well technically, with particularly lightness and power in the trot. Her inspection presentation was rewarded with a strong score of 44.5 points. Despite some tension during the IBOP test, she still achieved 62.5 points, which also earned her Elite status.

Participants, congratulations on your achievements!
