On Wednesday, September 2, Simon Hoeksma and Arie van Heeswijk travelled to Portland on the East Coast of the United States. This was the starting point for three inspections in Wilsonville, USA, Edmonton, Canada, and Anchorage, Alaska.
Also present in Portland were the Chairwoman of BPANA, Sharon O’Lexey Bechler, and Secretary Annette Carpenter. Below are the highlights from each inspection day.
Wilsonville, USA
A small inspection, but one with quality!
The stallion Maarten BP Ster 94 received the green light following his IBOP test and was therefore awarded the title Approved Stallion.
The mare Hannah was also awarded the Elite predicate. She received 44 points for conformation and 65 points for her IBOP ridden test. A mare with good, expressive movement.
Edmonton, Canada
On Friday afternoon/evening, the inspection in Edmonton, Canada, was held at the Whitemud Equestrian Centre.
The quality was varied, with 1st, 2nd and 3rd premiums being awarded.
The Day Champion was the very impressive colt Ricochet WCF, who scored 45 points. The Reserve Day Champion was the filly Rhainfellt WCF, with 43 points. It was wonderful to see that the dams are producing offspring that show improvement!
Two stallions were scheduled to make their appearance: Ilco út ’t Westen and Wicher fan Sylvan Star. Unfortunately, the latter was unable to attend.
Ilco was present and proved to be a stallion with a strong masculine expression, good elevation, a well-built conformation and a very good trot. We were able to approve him as an approved stallion, with 45 points and a 1st premium.
Ilco is therefore the first stallion to be approved in Canada!
Only one IBOP was on the programme. The mare Evita Rose RRF scored 68 points, which made her definitively Elite. Evita Rose showed spacious movement with plenty of suppleness in all three gaits. She received an 8 for aptitude.
Anchorage, Alaska – State Fair
The final inspection of this trip took place on Sunday, September 6, during the Alaska State Fair, the largest event in Alaska!
In addition to the horse inspection, there were monster truck demonstrations, a large fairground, plenty of live music, food stalls, gift shops, light shows and much more.
The filly Raya ABB was named Day Champion
