Regional inspection Bovenkarspel July 11, 2026

Under ideal weather conditions, the regional inspection was held this weekend in Bovenkarspel at the venue of Jurry and Cindy Martinus-Feld. Everything was perfectly organized, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and the event ran smoothly throughout the day. The BPS would like to sincerely thank Jurry and Cindy for making their facilities available.

Judges Simon Hoeksma, Geertje van de Veen and Nina Tuinman evaluated the horses and awarded a number of excellent scores.

The day began with the IBOP performance test, in which three horses entered the arena. All three were presented in a willing and cooperative manner, and two of them successfully earned the predicate.

The foal classes followed. In the Type XX Foal class, Riley Polar Solange (Dries BP118 x Glock’s Energy), owned by D.Q. Runherd-Scheerman, was named Best Foal with a score of 45.5 points. This elegant foal impressed the judges with a spacious walk, good use of the back, and high-quality movement in both trot and canter.

In the Type FB Foal class, the highest score of 45 points was awarded to Replay D.C.F. (Kevin BP119 x Goodtimes), owned by C. Martinus-Feld. Replay has an attractive front, a refined head, and demonstrated three correct and high-quality basic gaits.

The BP Foal Championship went to Roxy van de Hoogegeest (Zuperhero XX37 x Reinder 452), owned by M.C. Bakker-Schoon, with an outstanding score of 48 points. This exceptionally breed-typical and elegant foal displayed technically excellent movement and possesses outstanding conformation.

An orange ribbon was also awarded to the yearling Maudi H.D. (homozygous Hardwell x Bontfire XX06), owned by H. Deddens. The judges described Maudi as a sufficiently developed yearling with an attractive and fluent trot.

In the class for the inspection of mares aged four years and older, five Type FB mares entered the arena. It was a quality group with sufficient size and substance, although one mare clearly stood out. The highly breed-typical mare Tonnie (Felle 422 x Oltman 317), owned by A.N.J. de Hollander, was awarded the Elite predicate with 45 points after successfully completing her IBOP earlier that morning. Tonnie showed a walk with plenty of impulsion and a powerful trot. In addition to earning the Elite predicate, she was also named Best of Type FB.

The next class was for predicate promotion. The large-framed Type BP mare Look at Me AL. (Dries BP118 x Pier 448), owned by A. Lutgens, gave a very strong performance and showed clear improvement compared to her previous inspection. Her canter, in particular, had improved considerably, with the score increasing from 6.5 to 8. Having already passed her IBOP successfully last autumn, she was now awarded the Elite predicate with 44 points.

Look at Me AL. was also crowned Regional Champion, receiving the championship sash and blanket. (Only horses of the BP type are eligible for this title.)

Overall, the regional inspection was a highly successful event with generally excellent results. Congratulations to all owners on their well-deserved achievements!
